Uber won 2024 UX100 automotive UX at the curb

UX100 · 9 December 2024

Uber leads automotive UX for 2024. The map pin, the car approaching, and the price you agreed to are a sequence cities now treat as obvious. It was designed.

The trip is a few states

Where you are, where you are going, which car, what it costs. Uber’s 2024 interface made those states unmistakable. The award is for that sequence, which turned a street hail into a screen people trust at the curb.

Automotive, in this category, includes the product that moves you when you do not own the vehicle.

Arrival has to be legible

The anxious minute is the minute the car is nearby and you cannot see it. Uber’s map and the car’s identity are the design for that minute. Later classes moved on: Tesla in 2025 to the owned vehicle, Waymo in 2026 to a ride with no driver.

The first mobility leader

This essay covers 2024 only. If you are looking up a later automotive winner, use that year’s article. The names are not interchangeable.

Questions about this award

Who won the UX100 automotive award in 2024?

Uber. Tesla led in 2025 and Waymo leads in 2026.

Why is a ride-hailing app in an automotive category?

Because the interface is how a city moves: request, arrival, price, and the car at the curb. UX100’s automotive category includes that product, not only vehicles you own.
