Canva put a working design studio in front of people who never trained as designers. The interface teaches by being usable, not by explaining itself.

Templates, a canvas, and a sidebar of elements. The layout is familiar enough that a first design can exist in minutes, and deep enough that a team can stay.
Impact
Small teams, classrooms, and founders publish work that used to require a studio. The quality floor of everyday visual communication moved up.
How it works
You start from a format, edit on the canvas, and export. The mobile editor keeps the same objects, rearranged for a thumb and a smaller stage.
Why it won
Design tools often gatekeep with their interface. Canva’s award is for opening the door without making the room feel cheap.
