Travel & Hospitality·Class of 2026
Hopper won 2026 UX100 travel UX by letting you watch a fare
UX100 · 1 October 2026
Hopper leads travel and hospitality for 2026. A fare is something that moves. The interface lets you watch it, freeze it, and buy only when the number is worth it.
The booking was the wrong first screen
Travel UX still opens on a wall of fares and a countdown. Hopper treats looking as its own mode. A watch is a quiet object: a route, a date, a price that rises and falls. Buying is a later verb.
That separation is the 2026 award. The decision before the purchase is the product.
Freeze is not the same as book
The interface has to keep those actions apart or the watch becomes a dark pattern. Hopper’s screen makes holding a price different from taking the trip. A person can leave and come back without feeling they have already agreed.
Hospitality and flight products in this class include GetYourGuide in 2025 and Airbnb in 2024. Hopper’s year is the fare you have not bought yet.
Why the category shifted
UX100 publishes one travel leader a year. In 2026 the clearest interface problem was not finding a room. It was deciding when a moving price was real enough to take.
