Tesla won 2025 UX100 automotive UX by making the car a familiar screen

UX100 · 9 December 2025

Tesla leads automotive UX for 2025. Configuration, the watch on the car, and service collapse into a surface that feels like the product rather than a dealer’s portal.

The app is the other half of the car

Automotive software usually belongs to the dealer. Tesla’s 2025 interface belongs to the vehicle. You configure it, see it, and summon it from an account that matches the car’s own screen language.

The award is for that continuity. A glovebox of separate apps is the category’s ordinary failure.

Familiar, on purpose

The phone does not invent a second visual system. Controls you learn in the car are recognizable in the hand. That is a UX decision with a safety edge: people should not hunt for a new metaphor when they are about to drive.

Uber, Tesla, Waymo

Uber led 2024 on the trip you request. Waymo leads 2026 on a ride with no driver to ask. Tesla’s 2025 year is the owned car as a screen you already know.

Questions about this award

Who won the UX100 automotive award in 2025?

Tesla. The award is for an app that treats the car, the account, and service as one product.

Is Waymo the same award?

No. Waymo is the 2026 automotive leader. Uber led in 2024. Tesla is specifically the 2025 leader.
