Healthcare·Class of 2024

Cost Plus Drugs and the first UX100 healthcare award

UX100 · 9 December 2024

Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company is the healthcare leader for 2024, the first UX100 class. The pharmacy’s interface is the price: you can see it, understand the markup, and get the drug without a scavenger hunt.

The price was the missing screen

American pharmacy UX hides the number until the counter, or behind a coupon that may not apply. Cost Plus Drugs puts the cost on the page and explains the markup as the model. The 2024 award is for that disclosure as the layout, not as a footnote.

A person shopping for a prescription is already doing arithmetic in their head. The interface finally does it in the open.

Access, designed as a receipt

The path from the drug name to a price you can trust is short. There is no portal costume on a simple question. UX100’s first healthcare publication set a standard the later classes answered differently: Maven in 2025 around a life event, Hims in 2026 around a sensitive visit.

Why the opening class started here

The category is full of apps that feel like care and bill like a maze. The 2024 leader made the money legible. That is a healthcare UX problem whether or not a clinician is on the next screen.
