GoFundMe

A fundraiser a person can finish

GoFundMe, UX100 leader in Non-profit

GoFundMe turns a hard moment into a page someone else can understand and act on. The story, the goal, and the gift are in that order.

Design

A campaign leads with the person and the number. Sharing, giving, and updates use the same page instead of a second product.

Impact

Giving for an individual became a default behavior. The interface is why a stranger can trust the ask enough to act.

How it works

You write the story, set a goal, and share a link. Donors give without an account if they choose. Updates stay on the campaign.

Why it won

Non-profit UX often asks for trust and offers a form. GoFundMe won by designing the story and the transaction as one page.

Journal

The case above is the record. The blog has a separate essay for each year GoFundMe led Non-profit.
